Again the focus of these workshops was to be the Clinical Staff as we hope to get as many departments within Queens Hospital familiar with e-Learning and its benefits. We decided to repeat the workshop structure that was used for the last workshop in May earlier this year.
The workshops were built up of 2-day workshops that were repeated during the week. This approach has been adopted to be flexible for clinical staff who are incredibly busy, so can pick and choose workshop sessions around their schedules.
Virtual Clinic
The Virtual Clinic workshop proved to be the most popular workshop last year, and we were keen to repeat this again. Participants created a number of virtual patient scenarios in small groups and then created them using Articulate Quizmaker.
Using Articulate Engage
Participants were given an introduction into the Articulate software and how it can be used to deliver high quality teaching resources. The TINTS presentation was used to demonstrate where tools available in Articulate can be useful. A change of approach in this workshop focused on a non-medical topics for the the content of the resources, this allowed people to focus on how the software can be used without having to think of how they can apply it to their teaching. We received good feedback that this made it easier for participants to learn about the software.
CMS Training
We have been trying to target the clinical years to make sure they are aware of the CMS and its role in their teaching. The CMS workshop was designed to be a hands-on course to get those with responsibilities in the CMS familiar with how to manage their pages, and what content can be uploaded to the site.
There is a new member of the ICT team who is due to start soon who will have the sole role of supporting the CMS, this will make it easier for continuous training to take place for the clinical staff in the College of Medicine.
You can access all of the workshop materials via our Materials page in this website.
