We are greatly indebted to The Johnson and Johnson Corporate Citizen Trust and to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for providing funds to enable young surgical trainees from the College of Medicine, University of Malawi to participate in postgraduate training with the University of Edinburgh.
That support has enabled 4 surgical trainee doctors to participate in the University of Edinburgh MSc in Surgical Sciences a 3y PT distance education programme which enables them to study while continuing to work in Malawi. It is hoped that these trainees will make significant contributions to the training of clinical officers in Malawi once they have qualified.
